New Study by French Researchers Explain How and Where Cancer Cells Form Tumors

A study conducted at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) provided an explanation on how cancer cells spread to later form as tumors. The findings indicated that the location where circulating tumor cells (CTCs) establish adhesion to vessel walls can be tracked by monitoring where blood flow rates are slow.

The researchers further analyzed that successful CTC adhesion happens in capillaries with narrow diametric measurements. The inherent constraints caused by the small capillaries tend to arrest and lock the CTCs in place instead of being carried out of the blood vessels. The authors took note that successful adhesion occurs in areas where the rates of the blood flow are less than what they have established as “threshold velocity” of 400 to 600 micrometers per second (mps).

How Cancer Cells Metastasize

Dr. Jacky G. Goetz, PhD, lead author of the study and whose INSERM laboratory performed the study using zebrafish embryo as model, said that the results of their research gives enlightenment that constraint in vessel walls and blood flow rate have a strong influence in the metastasization of cancer cells.

Cancer cells develop when, for some unexplained reason, old cells do not die as part of the body’s control mechanism. Instead, they grow and divide uncontrollably but forming non-functioning new cells. These extra cells are supposed to be carried out of the body when they pass through the liver during the process of blood circulation. However, instead of being demolished by the liver’s bile secretion, some of the non-functioning cells are able to escape and continue to travel further throughout the body.

Prior to the INSERM study of the circulating tumor cells or CTCs, it was still a mystery why some of the extra cells get arrested and locked in place; to later form cancerous tumors that continue to grow and divide abnormally. Metastasization occurs when more of the abnormal cells circulate, and become attached in different body parts like the lungs, brain, liver, colon, intestine, uterus, breasts, bone and throat, which is just to mention a few.

As it is, successful metastasis has been established as the leading cause of death among cancer patients.

“Life’s Simple Seven” According to the AHA

In a separate cancer clinical research, it was revealed that participants who exhibited ideal health metrics based on the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple Seven Metrics for cardiovascular health, had lower risks of developing cancer. Those who got ideal scores for at least 3 of the 7 AHA health metrics had 25% lower risks, while those who passed six or all 7, had 60% lower risks.

AHA’s Life’s Simple Seven include the following:

1..Not Smoking
2. Healthy Diet
3. Cholesterol Control
4..Blood Sugar Reduction
5. Active Lifestyle
6. Weight control
7. Healthy Blood Circulation and Managing Blood Pressure

Since the study shows that flow rate of blood circulation and constraint in blood vessels impact incidents of successful adhesion of circulating tumor cells, taking food and supplements rich in nutrients that boost nitric-oxide production in the body can greatly help in maintaining blood flow rate above the threshold velocity.

One such supplement that has shown efficiency in improving blood circulation is Rocket Man Naturals, for having helped many ED sufferers overcome their health problem.
