The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre with a mission to achieve the highest standards in patient care, cancer prevention, cancer research and professional development for oncology and allied disciplines. TMC is an autonomous Grant-in-Aid Institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. TMC is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). The HBNI is a Deemed to be University of the Department of Atomic Energy with a mission to develop high quality postgraduate educational programs in science and technology including those related to Life and Health sciences. TMC invites applications from health care professionals of Indian nationality, who after an excellent postgraduate training are keen to pursue a career in Academic Medicine related to Oncology. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Professor & Officer-In-Charge, Department of Biochemistry:
M.D. (Biochemistry) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 12 years experience in Clinical Biochemistry with at least 4 years experience as Associate Professor. Proven academic track record in Clinical Biochemistry is needed. This position requires the skills for running state of the art Clinical Biochemistry facilities and maintaining the accreditation and QC of all the laboratories at Tata Memorial Hospital and ACTREC..

Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, Radiology:
MD or equivalent postgraduate degree in Radiology/ Radio-diagnosis recognized by MCI with 5 years experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Radiology in a teaching hospital. Research experience in MRI imaging is desirable.
Radiologists with three years’ post M.D. experience as Senior Residents and MRI experience may apply for post of Assistant Professor (Grade-E). They will be considered only if there are no suitably qualified candidates for Associate Professor’s position.

Assistant Professor, Surgical Oncology (Breast Service):
M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI OR M.S.(General Surgery) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 3 years post M.S. experience in Surgical Oncology. Exclusive experience in breast cancer surgery for one year is desirable.

Assistant Professor, Pathology:
M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Pathology recognized by MCI with minimum 3 years post MD experience in Pathology. Experience in Onco-Pathology, Cytology, Haemato-Pathology, or Molecular Pathology is desirable.

Assistant Professor, Dental & Prosthetics Surgery :
M.D.S. (Prosthetic Dentistry) or equivalent degree recognized by DCI with 3 years experience after MDS. Experience in Maxillo Facial Prosthetic work would be desirable. Applications from candidates with less than 3 years post M.D.S. experience will be considered (grade D) if there are no suitably experienced candidates.

Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology (Pediatric):
D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI after M.D. / equivalent degree in Pediatrics OR M.D. in Pediatrics or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 3 years exclusive experience in Pediatric Oncology in a teaching institute. Candidates without D.M. if selected will be eligible for appointment as an Adjunct Teaching Faculty.

Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology (Adult) :
D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI OR M.D. in General Medicine or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 3 years exclusive experience in Medical Oncology in a recognized institute. Candidates without D.M. if selected will be eligible for appointment as an Adjunct Teaching Faculty.

Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology (BMT) :
D.M. (Hematology OR Medical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI with one year exclusive experience in Bone Marrow Transplant in a recognized institute.

Assistant Professor, General Medicine:
M.D.(General Medicine) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 3 years post M.D. experience in the speciality or its allied sub-specialities in a large teaching hospital. Selected candidate will work in an interdisciplinary program to provide comprehensive General Medicine Care to Cancer patients and to the staff of Tata Memorial Centre.

Assistant Professor, GI Surgery (Hepato-Billiary Surgery):
M.Ch. (Surgical Gastroenterology / Surgical Oncology ) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI. Minimum of one year’s exclusive experience in Liver Transplantation is essential. Candidates with MS General Surgery with four years’ post MS experience in Gastrointestinal surgery including one year’s exclusive experience in Liver Transplantation may apply. They will be considered if there are no M.Ch. candidates.

Assistant Professor, Cancer Surgery (Orthopedic Oncology):
M.S. (Orthopedics) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI with three years’ post M.S. experience in Orthopedics. Exclusive experience in Orthopedic Oncology for one year is desirable.

Assistant Professor, Neuro Surgery:
M.Ch.(Neuro Surgery) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI. Clinical and research experience in Neuro-Oncological Surgery is desirable

Assistant Professor, Anaesthesiology:
M.D. (Anesthesia) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Anesthesiology recognized by MCI with 3 years post M.D. experience in Anesthesia in a Teaching Hospital. Experience in critical care and pain management is desirable.

Assistant Professor, Transfusion Medicine:
M.D. (Transfusion Medicine) /M.D.(Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion) or M.D.(Pathology) with Diploma in Transfusion Medicine OR 3 years post M.D. experience in a FDA recognized Blood Bank. Experience in Apheresis techniques is desirable. Candidates with less experience will be considered if there are no candidates with 3 years post MD experience.

Assistant Professor, Epidemiology:
Ph.D. in [Epidemiology/ Public Health / Statistics/ Health Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Biotechnology] OR Postgraduate M.D. plus MPH from a recognized University with 3 years experience in Epidemiological OR Population Research after Masters Degree. Research experience in Cancer Epidemiology OR Cancer Prevention or Cancer Registry is desirable.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
Age will be reckoned as on 05.03.2010. Age is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC. Age may be relaxable in cases of exceptional qualifications, and special needs for the development of the Department and for Departmental candidates.
Officers will be appointed as Scientific Officer (Medical) in the appropriate Scientific Grade and given an Academic Designation as per the Medical Council of India norms.
In addition to pay, other allowances including NPA, DA, HRA, TA, etc will be admissible as per the prevailing rules of TMC. All officers will be eligible for institutional financial support for active participation in National and International Medical Meetings, Workshops and Conferences after their probation is closed. Medical Officers are eligible for sharing the Private Practice Revenue in lieu of the NPA as per the existing rules of TMC. All officers will be covered by a Contributory Health Service Scheme for self and dependants. Residential accommodation will be provided subject to availability. All are eligible for retirement benefits and pension under the new pension scheme.
Candidates may be offered a salary grade in a higher or lower grade than what is advertised based on their teaching experience, research track record and overall assessment at the time of interview and recommendation of the Selection Committee.
Departmental candidates who are presently in a grade lower than what is advertised may apply for promotion to the higher grade apart from the existing merit promotion scheme. Only exceptionally qualified candidates with proven merit/track record would be eligible for fast track review promotion.
Candidates appointed will be rotated based on the needs of the concerned TMC Departments at the Tata Memorial Hospital (Parel campus) or ACTREC (Kharghar campus) as and when necessary.
The TMC also may exercise the option to offer appointments on “Contract Basis” for a fixed term on a consolidated remuneration.

Eligible applicants would be required to apply ONLINE only through the link on our website viz. tmc.gov.in/applicationform. No other mode of application will be accepted.
For applying Online, the applicant must possess valid email ID and a facility to take printout of the Acknowledgement Receipt.
All correspondence with the applicant will be done through email only. Information regarding call letters etc. will be provided through email. Responsibility of receiving, downloading and printing of related documents will be of the candidate. Tata Memorial Centre will not be responsible for any loss of email sent, due to invalid/wrong email ID provided by the candidate or delivery of emails to spam/bulk mail folder etc.
The candidate shall submit a Demand Draft for Rs.500/-for General & OBC candidates (Rs.100/-for SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates) drawn in favour of Tata Memorial Centre, Parel, Mumbai – 400012 by Post/Courier before the last date of receiving the applications. No other mode of payment will be accepted.
The application can only be submitted after entering the Registration Slip No., DD Number.
Out Station candidates called for interview will be reimbursed maximum train fare (other than Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/Janshatabdi trains) not exceeding first class/AC-III Tier fare excluding reservation/ super fast surcharge/safety surcharge, etc. from their normal place of residence in India and back only after production of tickets indicating class of journey.
Video Conferencing/Telephonic Interview can be arranged for the candidates presently working abroad subject to availability of the facility if desired. Candidates seeking telephonic interviews should submit photocopies of certificates attested by the present employers.
Names of short listed candidates will be displayed on our website. They are required to produce a recent passport size photograph, attested copies of all certificates regarding Date of Birth, Educational Qualifications, Experience Certificates Caste Certificate, Physically Handicapped Certificate etc. at the time of interview. It is mandatory to produce documentary evidence (e.g. Certificate from Dean of his/her Institution or Supplementary PG registration certificate from the State MCI branch) that the postgraduate degree is recognized by the Medical Council of India at the time of interview.
Persons working under Central/State Government/Autonomous Body/ Semi Government Organizations and other Public Sector Undertakings must submit their application forwarded through the head of the organization.
Separate applications should be submitted for each post.
Three Referees listed by the candidate should have been associated with the training or supervision of the candidates work during past 10 years.
Late and incomplete applications will be rejected. Last date for receiving applications may be relaxed by two weeks in respect of candidates working or training abroad provided they send a PDF version of the complete application with all relevant attachments before the last date. Canvassing of any form will disqualify candidates.
The Tata Memorial Centre reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for the interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience of the applicants. Mere fulfilling the prescribed qualifications will not entitle an applicant to be called for interview.
