The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre with a mission to achieve the best standards in patient care, cancer prevention, cancer research, and cancer education and professional development for oncology and allied disciplines. TMC is an autonomous Grant-in-Aid Institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. TMC is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The HBNI is a Deemed University of the Department of Atomic Energy with a mission to develop high quality  postgraduate educational programs in science and technology including those related to Life and Health sciences. Assistant Professor, Surgical Oncology (Breast service)
M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI. Exclusive experience in breast cancer management for one year is desirable.

M.S. (General Surgery) / M.S. (ENT) / equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with       3 years experience as  senior resident or equivalent post in Head & Neck Oncology in a recognized teaching Hospital after the postgraduate degree.  Experience in Base Skull Surgery is desirable.

M.D. (Anesthesia) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Anesthesiology recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. experience in Anesthesia. Experience in critical care and pain management is desirable.

Clinical Scientist
Postgraduate medical qualification in any branch of Clinical Medicine such as M.D.(Radiotherapy), M.S.(Surgery), M.D. (Medicine),M.D. (Paediatrics) , or an equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with minimum 3 years experience in Clinical Oncology after the PG qualification. A formal qualification such as Ph.D./Research M.D. after the post graduation is desirable. This position requires proven track record indicating leadership qualities  (including mentoring Ph.D. studies) for developing frontline research programs in Molecular and/or Translational Research related to cancer. Selected candidates will be offered Adjunct Faculty Position in an appropriate Clinical Specialty Department at TMH and should be able to evolve a focussed clinical research program.

Assistant Professor, Epidemiology
Ph.D. in Public Health /Epidemiology OR MBBS+ MPH from a recognized University with minimum 3 years experience in Biostatistics or Epidemiological Research after Masters degree. Research experience in the field of Oncology is desirable. This position requires proven track record indicating leadership qualities for developing front line research programs in cancer epidemiology.

M.D. (General Medicine) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by MCI with 2 years post M.D. experience in the specialty or its allied sub-specialties after postgraduate qualification in a large teaching hospital.

Chief Engineer:
The incumbent should possess a B.E.(Civil) degree from a recognised university with at least  15 years practical experience in the design, estimation, tendering and construction / maintenance of RCC multistoried hospitals, hotels, laboratories, office complex, housing colony,  co-ordination of public health, electrical work, air-conditioning etc.  Experience of co-ordinating construction of a large hospital complex or executing similar construction projects will be an advantage. The candidate should have demonstrated qualities of leadership managed the above activities and functions in various administrative capacities. The candidate would be responsible for co-ordinating and to organize all stated functions in the Engineering Dept. at TMC.

Deputy Registrar (Postgraduate Studies)
Postgraduate degree (or a degree of its equivalent) with 8 years supervisory experience or a graduate degree with 10 years supervisory experience.  The degrees should be from a statutory University from India and the experience should be in educational administration/examinations and academic affairs from Institutions of higher education in India. The candidate must possess thorough knowledge of UGC rules and regulations and be able to co-ordinate with Medical Council of India and AICTE. Persons with exceptionally long experience and retired persons possessing qualification and experience may apply and could be considered for appointment on contract basis for fixed tenure.

Officers will be appointed as Scientific Officer (Medical) in the appropriate Scientific Grade and given an Academic Designation as per the Medical Council of India norms.

Pay and allowances including NPA, DA, HRA, TA, etc will be admissible under the prevailing rules of TMC.  Medical officers will become eligible for institutional financial support for active participation in National and International Medical Meetings, Workshops and Conferences, etc. after their probation is closed. Medical Officers will become eligible for sharing the Private Practice Revenue in lieu of the NPA as per the existing rules of TMC. All officers will be enrolled into a contributory health insurance scheme for self and dependants. Residential accommodation will be provided subject to their availability. All officers will also be eligible for retirement benefits and pension under the new pension scheme.

Candidates may be offered a salary grade in a higher or lower grade than what is advertised based on their actual teaching experience, research track record and based on the overall assessment at the time of interview and recommendation of the Selection Committee. 

Departmental candidates who are presently in a grade lower than what is advertised may apply for promotion to the higher grade apart from the existing merit promotion scheme. They will be considered and called for Interview only in cases of exceptional and proven documented merit for a fast track review.

Appointed candidates will be rotated based on the needs of the concerned Departments at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel campus and ACTREC campus as and when necessary.

The TMC also has an option to offer appointments on “Contract Basis” for a fixed term on a consolidated salary.

UPPER AGE LIMIT: 

50 years for Sr.No.7 and 45 years for Sr.Nos. 1 to 6 & 8. Age will be reckoned as on 08.06.2009.  Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.  Age may be relaxable in cases of exceptional merit, qualifications, and special needs for the development of the Department and for Departmental candidates.

Application should be sent along with non refundable Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque for Rs.500/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of Tata Memorial Centre, Parel, Mumbai – 400012.  For Out Station candidates called for interview, the reimbursement of amount would be restricted to the train fare(other than Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/ Janshatabdi trains) not exceeding first class/AC-III Tier fare excluding reservation/ super fast surcharge/safety surcharge, etc. from their normal place of residence in India and back strictly on production of tickets and evidence indicating class of journey.

Video Conferencing/Telephonic Interview may be arranged for the candidates presently working abroad subject to availability of the facility.

It will be mandatory for Sr.Nos.1 to 6 to produce documentary evidence (e.g. Certificate from Dean of his/her Institution or Supplementary PG registration certificate from the State MCI branch) of postgraduate degree recognized by the Medical Council of India at the time of interview, if not furnished earlier.

Typewritten Application in the prescribed format only super scribing the post applied for on the cover alongwith a recent passport size photograph affixed on right hand top corner with attested copies of all certificates should be forwarded to the H.R.D. Officer, Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai – 400012 so as to reach him on or before 08.06.2009. Persons working under Central/State Government/Autonomous Body/ Semi Government Organizations and other Public Sector Undertakings should submit their application through proper channel.

Separate applications should be submitted for each post.

Names of Three Referees to be given by the candidate should be closely linked to training and experience within the last 5 years.

Late and incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. Last date for receiving applications may be relaxable in respect of candidates working or training abroad.  No correspondence of any kind will be entertained.  Canvassing of any form will disqualify candidates.

The Tata Memorial Centre reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for the interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience. Mere fulfilling the prescribed qualifications will not entitle an applicant to be called for interview.  The Tata Memorial Centre also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
