Scientific decisions are based on the quality evidence from the exhaustive & comprehensive scientific literature.

“As a profession which has the ability to manage the literature of research, librarianship is uniquely placed to model the principles of evidence-based practice, not only as they apply to other disciplines which we serve, but also as they apply to our own professional practice” (Ritchie, 1999)

The evidence-based approach emphasizes more responsibility on librarians to identify all the appropriate evidence from the universe of the knowledge i.e. from defining-to-redefining the problem, where finding, appraising, applying and evaluating are the process.

The EB approach in librarianship goes with host discipline particularly for of evidence and is developed in congruent with core values of librarianship. It provides a decision-making framework integrated to research and also acts as a foundation to promote research and scientific endeavor.

KRM 2008 aims at introducing this new concept to the practicing librarians and enhancing the capacity of searching EB resources effectively for end users. We would also cover aspects of methods and tools adopted to establish best practices in the main domain of the organizational activities and in library profession.

The seminar would comprise of lectures, and sessions of panel discussions to enable interaction, and allow sharing of experiences.
