Thyroid
disorders are of common occurrence globally
• The majority of them are benign (95%).
• Thyroid cancers have an excellent prognosis if
detected early and treated appropriately
• Surgery followed by Radioiodine (RI) treatment
when indicated, is the mainstay of treatment for these
cancers.
• External beam radiotherapy(EBRT) and chemotherapy
have practically no role in treatment and are indicated
only in select situations
• Thyroid cancers form 90% of all endocrine malignancies. |
