At the hub of the Imaging facility at ACTREC is its Zeiss
electron microscope (EM), which is housed in a laboratory
having all the facilities for preparing material for EM such
as ultra-thin sectioning, negative / positive staining and
photographic support.
The laboratory also has an ultramicrotome, a polaron coating
unit, sputter coater and critical point drying apparatus.
Other equipment in the Imaging facility are:
(i) a BioRad laser confocal microscope (LCM) attached to a
Nikon E-400 fluorescence microscope, with the capability of
acquiring and sectioning images in epifluorescence and transmission
modes, and
(ii) a Becton Dickinson FACS-Calibur flow cytometer.
